This year’s Nursing Institute Pre-Conference will explore research findings relevant to addiction nursing practice. It highlights interventions promoting
breastfeeding in women with opioid use disorder, nonpharmacologic measures to manage insomnia, ethical issues in therapeutic relationships, and professional wellness. Workshops will enhance the nurses’ capacity to select patient specific interventions based on clinically informed evidence-based practices.

For-NY 2018 Pre-Conference Institute on Recovery for Individuals & Families
Innovation & Integration: What's new for Individuals, Families, Providers, & Communities?

FOR-NY integrates the recovery community through fostering collaboration and support among individuals in recovery, their families, and professional allies. These partnerships are creating new initiatives and reshaping the landscape of community-based addiction prevention, treatment, and recovery support services in New York State.

  • FOR-NY Executive Director Stephanie Campbell will provide an overview of advocacy efforts on the local, state and national fronts. There will be a panel to discuss Peer Professional Supervision and training. Director of Education & Training Theresa Knorr and FOR-NY Board Vice President Deborah Rhoades will outline a new training that utilizes the CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training). Policy Director Allison Weingarten summarizes the ways in which FOR-NY humanizes, mobilizes and energizes the recovery community through advocacy training and technical assistance.

  • Included in this half day program will be two panel discussions; one of peer supervisors and people in recovery, who serve as guides for others, and one of family members and family support navigators.
